Saturday, January 19, 2002 The Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.

Aquasearch Inc., which met with with creditors yesterday afternoon, jumped 70 percent ahead of the conference to finish the week up 34.9 percent. It led the way among the 13 stocks in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin index. Late surge boosts Aquasearch
The Kona aquaculture firm, immersed in Chapter 11 reorganization bankruptcy, made nearly all its 3.5-cent gain yesterday in the final 90 minutes of trading to close at its session high of 8.5 cents.
Hawaiian Airlines Inc., which has been on a tear since announcing it would be merging with rival and privately held Aloha Airlines, jumped 7.8 percent to $4.29, its highest close in more than four years. It was the carrier's best finish since it hit $4.31 on Nov. 6, 1997.
Cyanotech Corp., a competitor to Aquasearch, also had a big week as it rose 7.5 percent to $1.28.
Maui Land & Pineapple Co. was the laggard for the week as it lost 3.8 percent to $23.56.
