GOP brings traffic cam
battle to the Legislature

Several Republicans are trying
to change the ticket system

House and Senate Republicans are calling for changes to the state's new controversial traffic camera system.

In the Senate, the three Republican members called for repealing the traffic control project, except for designated areas and then not to catch speeders.

In the House, Reps. Kika Bukoski (R, Makawao) and Charles Djou (R, Kaneohe) are introducing a package of bills they say will "mitigate some of the immediate concerns and anxieties expressed towards this heavy-handed method of law enforcement."

The Senate measure would forbid the use of automatic enforcement devices for use on any state roads.
