no memory of assault

Question: What ever happened to the Korean War ace jet fighter pilot who was found unconscious at Ala Moana Center in June?

Answer: Retired U.S. Air Force Lt. Gen. Winston W. "Bones" Marshall suffered a skull fracture and a cut on his upper lip when he was attacked and robbed on June 7 in the center's parking lot.

Police said Marshall was unable to remember what happened because he suffered a "bruising of the brain" in the attack which affected his memory.

Marshall, 82, of Waialae Iki, underwent treatment for his injuries at the Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific and has recovered, according to police.

He has even resumed driving, said Lt. Robert Cravalho, who was the Honolulu police detective assigned to the case.

A maintenance worker found Marshall on the Coral Level of the center's parking lot. His wallet was missing.

Cravalho said a man was seen kneeling next to Marshall, but the man fled before the maintenance worker could get a good look at him.

Cravalho said the case is inactive because Marshall still cannot remember what happened, and there are no other leads to follow up.
