Saturday, January 12, 2002 The Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.

Cyanotech Corp., continuing its march above the $1 mark, soared 13.4 percent this week to lead 12 other stocks in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin index. Cyanotech keeps forging ahead
The Kona biotech firm, which closed yesterday at $1.19, is up 19 percent this year.
ML Macadamia Orchards LP, which was the second-worst performer in the index last year with a drop of 20 percent, rose 4.7 percent this week to $3.35. The stock is up 6.4 percent since Jan. 2 and in addition offers a 6 percent dividend yield.
Alexander and Baldwin Inc., which already has issued an earnings warning for 2002 due to the tourism slowdown, was the biggest laggard this week as it dropped 5.6 percent to $25.69.
Schuler Homes Inc., which rose 120.6 percent in 2001, slipped 3.4 percent to $19.09 as it awaits final approval for its acquisition by D.R. Horton Inc.
