Matt Catingub considers Frank Sinatra more than an idol, said his wife, Vicki. "We even have a cat named Frank," she said. "And look at his drink, Jack Daniels on the rocks." Sipping Frank's favorite drink, Matt, the Symphony Pops conductor, said, "He (Sinatra) was such an influence on my mother (singer Mavis Rivers) and it passed on to me, especially his arrangers." Mavis was one of the first artists Frank signed for his Reprise record label, along with Dean Martin and Sammy Davis, Matt said. Jim donates his services so the theater and symphony can make more money from the production. He said he has not received a letter yet from theater and symphony officials asking him to do the show again this year. When he gets the official request, he checks his schedule to see if he is able to do it. Nothing has changed from previous years, he said.
