Saturday, January 5, 2002 The Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.

Aquasearch Inc., the biggest loser among Hawaii stocks last year, jumped 18.2 percent over the last five trading days to lead the way over 12 other stocks in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index. Aquasearch leads 1st week of 02
The Kona aquaculture firm, which fell 74.8 percent in 2001, ended the week up 6.5 cents and was one of two companies to post a double-digit percentage gain. The other was Big Island neighbor and rival Cyanotech Corp., which rose 16.7 percent to $1.05 as its stock continued to climb above the $1 mark.
Schuler Homes Inc. and Hawaiian Airlines Inc., which both posted gains of more than 120 percent last year, brought up the rear this week. Schuler, whose acquisition by D.R. Horton is expected to close in February, fell 2.6 percent while Hawaiian Airlines, which is merging with Aloha Airlines, lost 1.25 percent.
