A new statue of Queen Kapiolani, near Kapiolani Park Bandstand in Waikiki, was officially dedicated yesterday. Shortly afterward, sculptor Holly Young placed lei around her creation.




PASADENA PREPARES FOR PARADE

Navy sailors ET2 Thomas Steele, left, and STS3 Devin Grant of the USS Pasadena from Pearl Harbor watched a Goodyear blimp fly past yesterday during rehearsal for the 113th Tournament of Roses parade in Pasadena, Calif. A no-fly zone is part of the security to prevent terrorism at the parade, with only the blimp and law enforcement helicopters permitted.
