FL MORRIS / Hitomi Zubiri, above, pulled freshly pounded mochi out of the pounding bowl yesterday during the Mochitsuki Festival held at the Honbushin International Center in Mililani.

FL MORRIS / The Rev. Kiyoshi Hayashi and Ed Hashimura removed steamed rice to be pounded into mochi.
