Willoughby honored again

Hawaii sophomore outside hitter Kim Willoughby has earned another national honor, getting named to the ASICS/Volleyball Magazine All-American Team yesterday.

Junior outside hitter Logan Tom of Stanford is the Player of the Year.

Willoughby, who helped the Wahine basketball team win at Boise State last night, earned All-American honors from AVCA earlier in the month.

She was the only sophomore on the the first team.

Local grappling teams face national squads

Laguna Hills (Calif.) emerged as the top seed after one day of competition at the Iolani Dual Meet Wrestling Tournament.

Laguna Hills' championship pool will also have Punahou, Baldwin and Purcell Marion (Ohio). The other pool will have St. Louis, Iolani, Kamehameha and Livermore (Calif.).

Wrestling today begins at 10 a.m. in the Iolani Father Bray Complex. Admission is free.

Vulcans' Prather has hot hand against Cardinals

Scott Prather scored 31 points on Thursday night to lead Hawaii-Hilo to a 92-82 win over Concordia in front of 675 at Afook-Chinen Auditorium.

Prather drilled four 3-pointers and converted 11 of 16 free throw attempts for the Vulcans (9-2).

Kyle Bartholomew recorded his fifth double-double of the season with 25 points and 10 rebounds.

Travis Wischmeier paced the Cardinals (5-8) with 20 points.

Hawaii-Hilo has won seven straight games, with its last loss coming against Division I Louisiana State on Nov. 24, and has scored over 80 points in eight games this season.
