Ex-trustee 'Pinky' Thompson



Eleanor S. Asai, 78, of Kapaau, Hawaii, a retired clerk for Kohala Hospital, died Thursday in Kohala Hospital. She was born in Paauilo, Hawaii. She is survived by sons Earl Y. and Alvin Y., daughter Jocelyn C. Tengan, brothers Kenneth T. Ebata and Jack K. Suwa, sister Carol C. Suzuki and two grandchildren. Services: 1 p.m. Friday at Kohala Jodo Mission. Call after noon. Casual attire. No flowers.

Asano Kamimura, 104, of Hilo, a homemaker, died Dec. 16 in Life Care Center of Hilo. She was born in Japan. She is survived by son Kunito, daughter Tamiko Fujio, nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Private services.

Kinnosuke Kanno, 86, of Hilo, a retired automobile mechanic for Hawaii Motors in Hilo, died Sunday in Hilo Medical Center Extended Care Facility. He was born in Hilo. He is survived by daughters Judy Kinoshita and Eileen Azama, and two grandchildren. Services: 4 p.m. Saturday at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Call after 3 p.m. Casual attire. No flowers.

Shigematsu Matsuura, 81, of Keaau, Hawaii, a retired diesel mechanic for the former Puna Sugar Company, died Friday in Life Care Center of Hilo. He was born in Olaa, Hawaii. He is survived by wife Shizue; sons Calvin and Lester; daughters Sharon Nishimoto and Elva Hayakawa; brother Shigeru; sisters Fumi Muramatsu, Fuyu Suganuma and Tsutako Mikami; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Odelia Pavao, 88, of Waipahu, died Saturday. She was born in Kalihi. She is survived by son Philip Sr., daughters Dolores Ann Breaux and Betty Cletcher, brother John Abreu Sr., 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Graveside services: 10 a.m. Saturday at Mililani Memorial Park. Casual attire.

Judy Ann Peebles, 57, of Kailua-Kona, formerly of Fairfield, Calif., a retired office manager for a beauty school, died Dec. 18 at home. She was born in Clinton, Ark. She is survived by husband David, parents Ken and Ruth Nicholson, and sister Sharon Tyson. Private services held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society.

Robert "Bobby" Gary Reis Sr., 59, of Waianae, a retired employee for the Navy Public Works Center at Pearl Harbor, died Dec. 9. He was also a former newspaper distributor for the Honolulu Advertiser. He was born in Honolulu. He is survived by wife Patricia; sons Robert Jr., John and Michael; daughter Michele Villegas; mother Evelyn; brothers John III and Douglas; sister Darollyn Neilsen; and five grandchildren. Shigeyoshi "Shige" Shindo, 72, of Hilo, a retired Hilo Soda Works, Inc. employee, died Monday in Hilo Medical Center. He was born in Hilo. He is survived by wife Asako; daughter Susan Yamasaki; brothers Edward, Thomas, Kenneth and Wallace; sisters Hatsuko Watanabe, Fujie Ushijima, Shizue Nakamura, Harumi Kawamoto and Tsuyako Hashimoto; and three grandchildren. Jiro Yoshida, 83, of Mililani, a retired general insurance agent, died Dec. 15. He was born in Ewa. He is survived by wife Evelyn, son Michael, daughter Arlene Iwamoto, sister Ethel Tamura and one grandchild. Private services.
