Verhees comes to Hawaii
to coach youth soccer

The Honolulu Bulls Soccer Club has hired Jean Paul Verhees as the club's assistant director of coaching.

Verhees, a native of Holland, has coached the University of California and was coach of the women's team at the University of San Francisco for 10 years before stepping down.

A frequent staff member at soccer clinics in the islands, Verhees said after 18 years at the collegiate level that it was his long-standing goal to be a part of youth coaching.

His intention was to remain in California until Bulls' Director of Coaching Phil Neddo offered him the job here.

He played in the North American Soccer League and the American Soccer League.
