Police were looking for two women in their 30s who allegedly beat up a Japanese tourist in Waianae yesterday and took her PRADA backpack with her passport, visa and more than $1,000 in travelers' checks.

The 31-year-old Japanese woman, vacationing here from Yayoi-Cho, Japan, had taken a bus and was at Makaha Surf Beach when two women with a baby in the backseat of their car offered her a ride, she told police through an interpreter.

Because of the baby, she thought it looked safe and went with them, she said.

Stopping in front of 86-279 Halona Rd., one of the women, about five-foot, six inches tall and weighing about 200 pounds, pulled the Japanese tourist from the car, punched her several times and left her there, police reported.

A Waikiki tourist group was called to the police station in Waianae and took the visitor to the hospital. Her face was bruised but her nose wasn't broken, police said.

The two suspects, being sought for robbery and kidnapping, were driving a beige four-door sedan of unknown model.
