Athletes of the Week

Boys

>> Mulivai Pula, Kahuku football: Rushed for 212 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Red Raiders to a 21-14 win over St. Louis in the state championship game. His 82-yard scoring run in the third quarter proved to be the difference.

Girls

>> Alexis San Nicolas, Leilehua softball: Pitched a five-inning no-hitter in the Mules' 10-0 win over Aiea on Monday. She struck out eight Na Alii batters, while walking just two.

BASKETBALL

>> Jonathan Grobe, Iolani: Was named to the all-tournament team at the St. Anthony Basketball Tournament last weekend. He scored 43 points in three games for the Raiders.

>> Branden Kawazoe, Waiakea: Scored 23 points to lead the Warriors to a 64-57 win over Horseshoe Bend (Idaho) in the championship game of the Waiakea High School Invitational Basketball Tournament.

>> Most Valuable Player -- Ikaika Alama-Francis, Kalaheo

FOOTBALL

>> Inoke Funaki, Kahuku: Rushed for 111 yards and scored the go-ahead touchdown against St. Louis. His 76-yard run early in the third quarter broke a 7-7 tie.

>> Jason Rivers, St. Louis: Caught six passes for 98 yards and two touchdowns against Kahuku.

>> Darrell Tachibana, Kahuku: Led the Red Raiders with nine tackles as Kahuku limited St. Louis to 26 rushing yards.

>> Jonathan Mapu, Kahuku: Harrassed St. Louis quarterbacks all night, recording a sack and six quarterback hurries.

>> Taualai Fonoti, St. Louis: Led the Crusader defense with 11 tackles.

>> Timo Paepule, St. Louis: Recorded 10 tackles for the Crusaders.

BOYS SOCCER

>> Shen DeShayne, Baldwin: The Bears' goalkeeper recorded three shutouts to lead the team to the championship of the Baldwin Soccer Classic. He shut out Pearl City 1-0 in the title match.

GIRLS SOCCER

>> Healani Anloo, Kamehameha: Scored a goal in the Warriors' 3-0 win over Baldwin in the championship match of the Baldwin Soccer Classic and was named the tournament's most valuable player.

>> Jennifer Loo, Mililani: Assisted on two goals and made several key defensive stops to help the Trojans to a 3-1 record at the Baldwin Soccer Classic.

SOFTBALL

>> Tyleen Tausaga, Kaimuki: Went 2-for-3 with a three-run homer in the Bulldogs' 5-2 win over Kalani.

>> Katie Uechi, Kalani: Went 2-for-3 with two triples against Kaimuki.
