RUSS SOWERS >> Here at the Ramsay Museum and Gallery -- in historic Chinatown, don't forget that! -- I take care of people who come in to see the exhibits, or I direct them to the collections they're interested in. I coordinate the guest artists, handle calls, do the alarms ... basically, a little of everything. Art gallery director
Russ Sowers says the art world
'never gets normal'The great thing about this job is the constant contact with people I get to meet. You never know who's coming through the door, or what they're interested in. And since I take care of the museum's correspondence, I get to know what's going in art world-wide.
It never gets normal. It's always something different. You never know what you're facing. But here in Chinatown, we don't have nearly the problem on the streets that we used to have. The place has really been cleaned up. The only time the job annoys me is when the alarm goes off in the middle of the night, and I dash down here to see what's up!
