BOWLED OVER BY JAPANESE CULTURE
Students match wits at the fifth annual Japan Bowl

Ashley Jung, a St. Andrew's Priory freshman, passed the time
yesterday at the Japan Bowl by folding origami cranes to be
sent to New York City. Kamehameha Schools won the Level II
competition, Punahou School won Level III and Iolani
School won Level IV.

to their team yesterday at the Japan-America Society of Hawaii's
Japan Bowl at the Sheraton-Waikiki. The Japan Bowl tests high
school students on aspects of Japanese culture including
language, crafts, history and current events.

William Lee, a junior at Iolani School, tackled a brain-buster in
the final round. Some 36 teams from across the state participated.
