Sonny Ching on Maui

Tonight is the last-night for those on Maui to catch Sonny Ching and Halau Na Mamo O Pu'uanahulu at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center, where they will be performing "Ho'oulu I Ka Na'auao -- To Grow in Wisdom."

The evening of traditional and contemporary hula presents the epic story of Hawaii through oli (chant), mele (song) and hula as performed by Ching's multi-award winning halau comprised of more than 70 dancers.

The event starts at 3 p.m. at the Castle Theatre. Outside there will be a fair going on with fresh flower lei for sale, Hawaiian arts and crafts, food by Aloha Mixed Plate to purchase, and more hula entertainment.

Tickets are $10, $30 and $40, and half-price for keiki 12 and under.

Champagne, on your face

The Ihilani Spa on Oahu has reintroduced its "Spa Spectacular" special in which guests who reserve one 50-minute spa service will receive 50 percent off a second 50-minute service of equal or lesser value.

Some of the massages and treatments include a green tea detoxifying wrap, Hawaiian lomilomi massage, and champagne and caviar facial (Robin Leach, are you listening?).

The special is good for one person, Mondays to Thursdays, and the outside guest fee of $25 will be waived.

The spa is at 02-1001 Olani St. in Kapolei. For more information, call 679-0079 Ext. 2421.

Camp in luxury

Through Dec. 20, kama'aina will get a break on a visit to Molokai Ranch's Kaupoa Beach Village.

Camping has never been more urbane as families retreat to bungalows featuring queen-sized beds, solar-powered lights, private bathrooms with hot showers and spacious lanais complete with breathtaking views.

On top of this, activities available include ocean kayaking, horseback riding, mountain biking, cultural hikes or simple napping.

The package is $119 per person per night, double occupancy, with a two-night minimum required, including round-trip interisland airfare, two-bedroom tentalow and daily breakfast.

To qualify, guests must show a Hawaii I.D. at the time of check-in. Rates are subject to change without notice and certain restrictions may apply.

For reservations or information, call toll-free 1 (800) PANIOLO (552-2791).
