Men of iron
ROY YAMAGUCHI AND THE
NEW IRON CHEFS DEBUT FRIDAY

KFVE
That's Hawaii chef Roy Yamaguchi in the gold suit that he
says makes him look like a Power Ranger. He's Iron Chef
Asia in a U.S. incarnation of the Japanese cult TV hit.
"Iron Chef USA: Showdown in Las Vegas" airs at
9:30 p.m. Friday on KFVE. It's the first of two
specials that could be picked up as a series,
making Yamaguchi a permanent Iron Chef.
William "Capt. Kirk" Shatner, left, is the
host; other featured chefs are, from left,
Alessandro Stratta, Todd English, and
Jean Francois Meteiger. Yamaguchi
doesn't draw a challenge in the first
installment, but his restaurant empire
and cuisine are showcased in an
introductory segment.
