promotes isle spirit tomorrowStar-Bulletin staff
"The whole intent of Synergy Hawaii Day is to promote unity and enhance the spirit of aloha in our island state, which many believe has diminished over the years," said musician Jesse Rivera, the founder of the musical project.
By playing a feel-good song early in the morning, he said, "All of Hawaii will be given a positive message simultaneously, reminding us to be good to one another."
Among those to be featured in the song and video are Rivera, Brother Noland Conjugacion, Jerry Santos, Ilona Irvine, Maunalua, Kelly "Boy DeLima, Amy Gilliom, Jeff Rasmussen, Vaihi, Kawika Kahiapo, Genoa Keawe, Malani Bilyeu, Melveen Leed, Lynell Bright with the Kamehameha School Children Choir , Kanoelani Holomalia, Chris Bright, Misty Thoemmes, Allison H.K. Higa, Jessica Cabral, Paul Iona, La'amea, Ho'opi'I, Triton Peltier, 3 Plus, Moe Keale, Nalani Oods, Chaz Mann, Ryan Tang, Harold Kama Jr., Leon Siu, Soulfree, Kale Imua, Enola Mutch, Anna Marie Love, Jan Shima, Rodney Bejer, Ka'ala Boys, Ernie Cruz Jr., Chinky Mahoe, Leesha and Kehau Flores.
Filming and production was donated by Bill Haley and son Thomas Haley of The Producer's Group Inc., Nicola Whistler, Noah Davis, and Greg Murphy of Pixelworld Networks. Peter Dawson of Purely Post donated the film editing. Gaylord Holomalia donated studio time and staffing for recording the song. David Kauahikaua donated his services to produce and arrange the music.
Rivera wrote the song with Kawika Kahiapo, Kawika Crowley and Kelly "Boy" DeLima.
"It's a beautiful song. I absolutely love it," said Leed, who took part in the studio recording of the song last month. All profits made from the song will go to Prevent Child Abuse Hawaii. Olinda Road Distribution will handle the sales of the CD Single.
"Since this is strictly for aloha, everyone involved in the project from production to singing is not making any profits," said Rivera. "We will be doing this every year and a new song will be written each time. This is what makes this first event so special."
The TV stations playing the video are KHET, KHON, KGMB, KITV, KHNL, KFVE, KPXO, KBFD, KIKU, OCEANIC CABLE 16, OAHU 52, NATV 53, VIEWS 54, TEC 55 and TEACH 56. The video is also scheduled to air on http://www.pixelworld.com/ms.html.
As for radio, just turn it on and listen; if you don't hear the song, the next station on the dial is bound to be playing it.
Let's just hope everyone calls the Time of Day line to synchronize their watches.
