Oahu private schools swept top honors at the Honolulu Marathon State Cross Country Championships yesterday at Kauai Community College.

Punahou's Todd Iacovelli and Maryknoll's Christal Cuadra completed dominant seasons by winning the individual titles, while Kamehameha's boys and Iolani's girls captured the team championships.

Iacovelli, who finished second in last year's state finals, won the boys 3-mile race with a time of 15 minutes, 45 seconds.

Defending champion Justin Peterson of Kamehameha finished eight seconds behind Iacovelli to claim second place. Oahu Interscholastic Association champion Jeff Lim of Mililani came in third at 15:54.

Despite Iacovelli's win, Punahou finished second in the team standings as Kamehameha captured its fifth consecutive boys championship.

The Warriors posted 63 points as a team, while Punahou had 68. McKinley finished third with 174 points.

Cuadra won the girls race with a time of 12:03, three seconds ahead of runner-up Tia Ferguson of Seabury Hall.

Iolani, which last won the girls title in 1998, ran away with the girls team championship, beating two-time defending state champion Punahou for the crown. The Raiders finished with 52 points, while the Buffanblu posted 80 points. King Kekaulike of Maui placed third with 121 points.

Three Iolani runners posted top-10 finishes in the 2-mile race. Nicole Anderson paced the Raiders, placing third overall with a time of 12:31. Kristin Shinkawa came in fifth (12:32) and Christi Morrissey finished eighth (12:38).

Yesterday's meet marked the sixth straight year that Interscholastic League of Honolulu teams won both the boys and girls team championships. ILH runners have won the last seven girls individual titles.
