A smooth ride
at the DMV

Shocking! I went to renew my drivers license and, boy, was I pleasantly surprised. Expecting the usual time-wasting long lines and bureaucratic inefficiency, the entire process took 15 minutes and city employees at City Square in Kapalama were nice, helpful and efficient.

The clincher: When I went to the cashier's desk to pay my fee and have my picture taken, the two ladies behind the counter were gregarious and even jovial as they took my check and my photograph. Then they said to have a seat and wait a minute while they put together my new license. Expecting a long wait, I went out to my car to get a book to read.

As I came back in a moment later, the two ladies were smiling and waving at me, telling me to come get my new license. Even more incredible, the license photo was one of the best I've ever had. Double wow. So thanks to the city employees who made my trek to the DMV a pleasant experience. I just hope it wasn't a fluke.
