UH plays EA Sports
West in exhibition

The Hawaii men's basketball team plays EA Sports West All-Stars on Sunday at 7 p.m. in an exhibition game at the Stan Sheriff Center.

The defending Western Athletic Conference champion Rainbows officially open the season on Nov. 16 in the Nike Tip-Off Tournament.

EA Sports West started a 10-game tour with a win over Cal State Fullerton, but has since lost to San Diego State and Pepperdine. They play at Fresno State tonight, UCLA tomorrow and UNLV on Friday.

EA Sports West is made up of former players from UC Santa Barbara, Texas-Arlington, Cal State Northridge, Long Beach State, New Mexico, Oregon and Illinois State.

Ticket prices for Sunday's exhibition game are $8 for lower level, $6 for upper level, and $4 for students sitting in the upper level.

Vulcans rally to beat Western New Mexico

The Hawaii-Hilo volleyball team came back to top Western New Mexico 18-30, 30-28, 30-24, 30-23 last night at the Hilo gym.

Sara Pilgreen led the way for the Vulcans (15-13, 5-8 Pacific West Conference) with 23 kills and 16 digs, while Elena Salvador had 15 kills and hit .481.

Western New Mexico dropped to 16-17 and 6-9.

Brigham Young-Hawaii drops MSU-Billings

The Brigham Young-Hawaii volleyball team needed five sets to beat Montana State-Billings last night at the Cannon Activity Center in Laie.

Three Seasider players had at least 20 kills -- Dan Xu and Ashley Moeai each with 23 and Karla Ribeiro with 22.

The Seasiders improved to 14-6 (10-5 PacWest), while MSU-Billings dropped to 15-15, 5-10.

Tuitele sparks HPU past Western New Mexico

Senior setter Nia Tuitele had 39 assists, nine digs, five blocks and two aces to lead the Hawaii Pacific volleyball team past Western New Mexico 30-28, 30-27, 30-28 at St. Andrew's Priory gym on Monday night.

Andrea Wean added 16 kills for HPU (18-4, 12-3 Pacific West Conference), while teammate Roberta Robert had 15 kills and 13 digs. It was the final regular-season match for the PacWest Conference champion Sea Warriors.

The Lady Sea Warriors dropped two spots in the American Volleyball Coaches Association Division II Top 25 poll yesterday. HPU is No. 15, tied with Augustana College (South Dakota).

The Sea Warriors find out who they'll play in the NCAA-II Pacific regionals on Sunday. The six-team, single-elimination tournament runs from Nov. 15-18.
