The Hawaii Pacific volleyball team clinched the Pacific West Conference title with a 30-24, 27-30, 30-26, 30-24 win over Montana State-Billings at St. Andrew's Priory Gymnasium Saturday. HPU clinches PacWest
The title puts the defending national champions into the NCAA-II tournament for the fourth straight year.
HPU middle blocker Andrea Wean hit .405 and pounded out 22 kills. Outside hitter Roberta Robert posted her 13th double-double of the season with 19 kills and 15 digs, while setter Nia Tuitele dished out 13 assists to put her 11 away from 1,000 in a season for the fourth time in her career.
Angie Hopes led the Yellowjackets with 22 kills and 14 digs. Katrina Dahlgren had three solo blocks and six assists.
HPU closes out the season at home against Western New Mexico at 7:30 today.
Kaneohe Yacht Club takes home event
The Kaneohe Yacht Club's "Flash" beat Marian Wesley's "JBird" yesterday in the final of the Hawaii Women's Yacht Racing Association's two-race J-24 series at Kaneohe Bay.Flash was skippered by Genie Simeona and Marcy Fleming in the first race. Lori Lloyd took Simeona's place in the final.

Lyau, Carpenter win half marathon
Jonathan Lyau ran 13.1 miles in 1:14:33 to win the Val Nolasco Memorial Half Marathon around Kapiolani Park yesterday.Yang Sun Carpenter took the women's title with a time of 1:28:41, ahead of Jeannie Wokasch (1:29:57). Brigid O'Meara was third at 1:31:18.
Clint Sheeley (1:16:15) came in second among the men, while Andy Harris (1:16:29) took third.
