'I Love Lahaina' fest
Popular entertainers Keali'i Reichel, Henry Kapono, Brother Noland and James Grant Benton will headline the second annual "I Love Lahaina" celebration taking place Friday and Saturday at Lahaina Cannery Mall on Maui.The free event will feature food and game booths, plus entertainment from noon to 9 p.m. both days.
The evening concert will run from 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, with a live auction featuring hotel packages, golf rounds, restaurant gift certificates, apparel, limited edition artwork, and more.

Halloween the easy way
If you're on Maui and want to take part in Lahaina's Halloween festivities without getting stuck in traffic, the Pacific Whale Foundation suggests a sail via its double-deck power catamaran Ocean Odyssey.While aboard the craft, enjoy pupu, mai tais and live entertainment and vie for a prizes in a costume contest.
Check in for Ocean Odyssey is at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday, and the vessel will depart from Maalaea Harbor at 7 p.m., arriving in Lahaina at 8 p.m. It then leaves from Lahaina at 10 p.m. to return to Maalaea at 11 p.m.

Oahu's Kahala Mandarin Oriental has introduced a kama'aina rate -- at $150 per Ridge View room, per night, through Dec. 17. Those wishing to tour the outdoors might head out to Camp Mokuleia, which is hosting a "Get With It, Island Trails" evening hike.Travelers will journey to the Natural Reserve Area at Oahu's Ka'ena Point through moonlighted wilderness, along a mile of well-marked trails, learning about endangered plants, birds and insects in the process.
A $20 fee also covers dinner at Shell Beach. Hikers will meet at Camp Mokuleia at 5:30 p.m. and finish the program by 8:30 p.m. Register at 637-6241.
