Woman files suit against cop caught while peeping

An off-duty police lieutenant who was caught peeping into a Hawaii Kai woman's bedroom July 31 faces a lawsuit filed by the woman.

Katherine Frame, a flight attendant, filed suit yesterday in Circuit Court against Craig Clissold, claiming he invaded her privacy and caused her emotional distress. Frame has suffered from fear, anxiety and humiliation over the incident, the suit said.

Clissold pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge of invasion of privacy and was sentenced last month to a one-year term similar to probation.

Clissold, who lives seven doors away, claimed he was relieving himself. However, a witness told police Clissold was in the yard and peeping in Frame's bedroom window just before 1 a.m.

Clissold declined comment on the suit.

Waimanalo meeting on abandoned cars moves

Tonight's meeting to discuss Waimanalo's abandoned car problem will now be held at 7 at the Waimanalo Elementary & Intermediate School cafeteria.

Representatives from the Honolulu Police Department and the city Prosecutor's Office are expected to attend, said Rep. Joe Gomes (R, Waimanalo), who will moderate the meeting.

Gomes said he was also working to get a representative from the city Motor Vehicle and Licensing Division, which handles abandoned cars.

Corrections and clarifications

Mayor Jeremy Harris' office sent an e-mail to city employees yesterday advising them to stop opening mail immediately in response an anthrax scare downtown. A story on page A-1 yesterday incorrectly labeled the e-mail as a news release.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Chris Thomas handled the federal money-laundering case involving a former president of Hawaii Credit Counseling. A story on page A-5 Saturday incorrectly identified him as Craig Thomas.
