RADFORD TEACHER WINS MILKEN AWARD

Radford High School teacher Herman Leong, center,
surrounded by students, reacts as he learned yesterday
that he is the winner of the prestigious Milken Award.
The honor comes with a prize of $25,000. The Milken
Family Foundation National Education Awards celebrate
and reward educators for their achievements and expand
their opportunities for professional growth. Two more
Hawaii educators are expected to receive Milken Awards
this year. Leong has been a mathematics teacher for
11 years and chairs the math department.
