Preview

The following is a preview of movies opening this weekend that runs every Tuesday in the Star-Bulletin:

Opening tomorrow

"Bones" -- Four kids planning to open a nightclub in a decrepit building on the wrong side of town run afoul of ghosts. Fortunately, Pam Grier is on hand to bitch-slap the evil dead. Snoop Dogg stars as Jimmy Bones, the pimp-styling, vengeful spirit (R).

Opening Friday

"13 Ghosts" -- A widower and his daughter (Tony Shalhoub and Shannon Elizabeth) inherit a glass mansion that just so happens to be haunted by said-number of ghosts in this remake of William Castle's 1960 schlocky 3-D chiller. There's also a fortune hidden somewhere in the house (in a glass mansion?). Produced by Joel Silver and Robert Zemeckis, who also collaborated on another Castle remake, 1999's "House on Haunted Hill" (R).

"K-PAX" -- Kevin Spacey plays a man who arrives in New York's Grand Central Station and announces that he's from a distant planet, from which the film's title is derived from. Jeff Bridges plays a kindly mental hospital psychiatrist who finds himself moved not only by his patient's strength of conviction, but the effect he's having on other patients (PG).
