PROMOTIONS

>> Shaun A. Shimizu and Betty Y.S. Tsang have been named assurance managers in the assurance department at Grant Thornton LLP. Both Shimizu and Tsang joined Grant Thornton in 1996 and served as senior associates before their promotions.

ON THE BOARD

>> Charlotte Townsend was named chairwoman of the board at Winners at Work. Other new officers are: Ruth Sakai, past chair; Samuel Powell, vice chair; Harvey Rackmil, treasurer; and William Haig, director. In addition, the following individuals were named as new trustees for Winners at Work: Sue Anderson, Pamela Fujita-Starck, Carol Galdeira, Curtis Pruder and Lois Sueda.

RECOGNITION

>> Linda Ispen has been named "Insurance Woman of the Year" by the Honolulu Association of Insurance Women. Ispen, who serves as member- ship chairperson on HAIW's board, is also the marketing director at RLI Insurance Co.
