Adtech to cut 30 assembly jobs in consolidation

Honolulu high-tech company Adtech said it is eliminating 30 local assembly jobs as part of a consolidation of operations by its U.K.-based parent Spirent plc.

Spirent is moving assembly operations to a new facility being built in Calabasas, Calif., the home of Adtech's sister firm Smartbits. Adtech said 15 workers will be offered jobs in California while another 15 people will remain in Hawaii to work on a new products introduction team. Adtech, founded in Honolulu in 1967, was bought by Spirent in 1997.

Hawaiian forms alliance with Alaska Airlines

Hawaiian Airlines announced yesterday that it has entered into a marketing alliance with Alaska Airlines and its sister carrier Horizon Air.

Hawaiian said the agreement, which went into effect Oct. 1, provides for the carriers' participation in each other's frequent flyer programs, as well as reciprocal code sharing.
