Dubbed the One-Stop-Operating System, the plan uses the Internet and videoconferencing to improve job recruiting, Hirono said.
The system, part of the state Workforce Development Division, was first used Sept. 7.
Now, following the massive hotel and tourism layoff triggered by the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, the system is expected to be used to coordinate employment information between the islands.

Freeman Correa Jr., apprentice program director at the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard, praised the new state program because it let him coordinate job information between Pearl Harbor and the neighbor islands.
"The shipyard's opportunities were publicized, resulting in several interviews facilitated by the new video conference system," he said.
