San Diego signs Tanuvasa

The former Hawaii star resumes his
NFL career with the suprising 3-0 Chargers

From staff and wire reports

SAN DIEGO >> The San Diego Chargers, who lost defensive tackle Jamal Williams for the season with a knee injury, signed University of Hawaii alumnus Ma'a Tanuvasa to a one-year contract yesterday.

Financial terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Williams tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in Sunday's 28-14 win over Cincinnati. Leonardo Carson will move into his starting spot and Tanuvasa will add depth.

Tanuvasa, a former standout at Mililani High School and at UH before being drafted in 1993 by the Los Angeles Rams, spent the previous six seasons with Denver, where he started 54 of 80 regular-season games. He started both of Denver's Super Bowl wins.

He started every game for Denver the last three seasons, getting 19 - 1/2 sacks.
