The Wahine (3-4) were missing two key players. Striker Arlene Devitt sat out after collecting her fifth yellow card in the Saint Mary's match Friday. Midfielder Tiffany Makue is out indefinitely after breaking her right hand when she fell after colliding with a Saint Mary's player.
Lisa Wrightsman got the hat trick yesterday with the last two goals coming on unassisted efforts. Her first, at 4:48, was on a breakaway off of a punt by goalkeeper Amy Seely, who received an assist.
"I'm not too worried about the game," said UH coach Pinsoom Tenzing. "We're still moving a lot of people around, but crunch time is coming and it may start (today against No. 6 California). We've got everyone here we're going to be using in the WAC."
Tenzing has had the opportunity to see everyone in action. He gave goalkeepers Erin Chow and Jennifer Churchill a half each against St. Mary's. Chow played 90 minutes yesterday and Churchill goes against the Golden Bears today.
"I wanted to bring Erin's confidence up. It wasn't all her fault, but she needs to learn from her mistakes. Everything back there (on defense) could have been much better," said Tenzing.
Jennifer Starsiak scored for the Wahine at 77:25 with an assist from Taryn Murata. Starsiak now holds the UH record for career points (38).
