The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.

Kona-based Aquasearch Inc., which on Tuesday announced it signed a letter of intent to form an alliance with Ancile Pharmaceuticals for development of microalgae-based botanical drugs, soared 61.54 percent this week to top the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index. Aquasearch cultivate a
double-digit gainCyanotech Corp. was next with a 12 percent advance. It was followed by Bank of Hawaii parent Pacific Century Financial Corp., up 11.07 percent, and Cheap Tickets Inc., which rose 10.37 percent after acquiring firm Cendant extended a tender offer for the firm by two weeks.
