Roadwork to cause more
delays around town

The state Department of Transportation advises motorists to allow for extra travel time because of various roadwork lane closures throughout Oahu this week.

On Fort Weaver Road, one northbound lane will be closed from Geiger Road to Old Fort Weaver Road beginning today from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Also, the right lane of the H-1 freeway in the westbound direction between the Lunalilo onramp and the Pali Highway offramp will be closed for lighting work today and tomorrow from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Other state road projects in the H-1 corridor this week will mean:

>> Intermittent closures of the Piikoi Street onramp to the H-1 freeway eastbound and one lane of the H-1 Punahou Street offramp from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday for barrier, traffic signal and road work.

>> Possible lane closures on Frear Street near Magellan Avenue from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for highway lighting work.

There may be additional lane, ramp or shoulder closures between the Koko Head and Pali overpasses.

In addition, three left lanes of the eastbound H-1 at the Kaamilo overpass will be closed tomorrow, 10 p.m. to 3 a.m., for servicing and repairing the variable message sign.

The department said drivers should expect delays, consider alternate routes and use caution while driving past the work areas.
