[THE SEARCH FOR HAWAIIAN LIFE]

Those streaks on the picture of Ala Wai Boulevard are indeed
a record snow. Bob Hampton of Honolulu shot the picture
in 1991. Back in the '60s, Hampton was general manager of
Tahoe Keys on the south shore of Lake Tahoe, then owned
by Dillingham. "It is the mirror image of Hawaii Kai in
looks and size," Hampton writes. Ala Wai Boulevard is the
main drag through Tahoe Keys, and Hampton reports the
locals there pronounce it the "Alley Way."

"The Search for Signs of Hawaiian Life in the Universe" is just that: We're looking for evidence of Hawaiiana everywhere but Hawaii. Send snapshots and a description to TSFSOHLITU, Honolulu Star-Bulletin, 500 Ala Moana, Suite 7-210, Honolulu, HI 96813, or e-mail JPEGs or TIFFs to HiLife@starbulletin.com.
