Hit songs by the Krush in the late '70s and early '80s included
"Blame it on the Night," "Take Me to the Mountain," "Waialua
Sky," and "Hold Tight." Hal Bradbury, fourth from left, was
one of the band's lead singers.

Former Krush singer
still in show business

Question: What ever happened to Hal Bradbury of the Fabulous Krush from the 1980s?

Answer: Bradbury, a lead singer of the Fabulous Krush, which later became simply the Krush, now performs with a six- to 12-member band called Anything That Moves, or ATM.

Music director and keyboardist Clyde Pound says ATM plays specifically for business conventions at hotels around the state and neighbor islands.

Its music varies from the '50s to the '90s, while the number of members who play at the events depends on the type of convention.

Bradbury, who was in the Krush from 1979 to 1982, also went into construction and now works for JML Masonry.

"(I) did it on and off for 12 years," he said. "I was introduced to it by friends. I wanted to do something with my hands."

Joining Bradbury in the Krush were Edwin Ramones, Bobby Gonzales, Wade Kuroiwa, Butchie Canencia, Phillip Galaura, Macky Galbiso and Freddie Paraz.

The band and producer Tom Moffatt created hits that included "Blame It on the Night," "Take Me to the Mountain," "Waialua Sky" and "Hold Tight." In 1981 the band won Na Hoku Hanohano Awards for album of the year and most promising artists.

"He had this way of making people feel comfortable," said Bradbury's former manager Yemun Chung. "He had a real gift of emceeing and hosting. ... Hal had this overflowing confidence."

In 1982, Bradbury left the Krush to create his first and only solo album, entitled "This Is Love." He even had a fan club.

These days, Bradbury said, he also dedicates his time to God.

He teaches Sunday school about three times a week at Hope Chapel in Waikele.

"He has the plan," Bradbury said. "I'm leaving it up to the Lord in my life because he has plans for me, and it's bigger than my dream, and that's what I truly believe."
