The cooperative efforts to bring a community resource center to Kuhio Park Terrace deserves loud and long praise for all involved. Kudos to Kuhio
Park TerraceThe center will provide badly needed educational and employment training, child and medical care, job placement, programs for teenagers, business development and welfare and counseling services.
Residents helped plan the center with the support of the state and federal governments. Community groups such as Kokua Kalihi Valley, the Samoan Service Providers Association and Parents and Children Together along with the University of Hawaii are all pitching in. The goal is to turn about the fortunes of the residents of the state's largest project that in the past has been the scene of crime and violence.
If the state's plans to rebuild the whole complex go through, Kalihi may see the revitalization it has long awaited.
