"Ghost World" -- Two teenage girls, equal in their disdain for the "real world," graduate from high school and fear drifting apart when one of them considers moving across country to attend college. Based on alternative comic book artist Daniel Clowes' fine series. Directed by Terry Zwigoff. (R).
"Jeepers Creepers" -- Horror movie about a brother and sister who find themselves the prey of an indestructible force unleashed from the basement of an old abandoned church (R).
"O" -- Shakespeare's "Othello" with a contemporary basketball spin. A young black high schooler (Mekhi Phifer) is convinced by a conniving friend jealous of his good fortune (Josh Hartnett) that his girlfriend (Julia Stiles) is cheating on him. This movie was completed in 1998, its original release repeatedly delayed due to the frequency of high school shootings at the time (R).

Kindergarten Fair
The Hawaii Association of Independent Schools is hosting a fair on Sept. 5, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Ala Wai Golf Clubhouse, to answer questions about kindergarten options and opportunities. Admission directors from more than 25 schools will distribute informational brochures and materials. Topics covered during a short program at 7 p.m. include: "Learn the ABC's of Kindergarten Admission with Ruth Tshumy; "Understand the basic Developmental Stages of 4- and 5-year-olds" with Eva Moravcik; "Learn About the Characteristics of Kindergarten Programs" with Meg Miguel.
