After starting practice last Wednesday, the University of Hawaii Wahine began two-a-day practices yesterday.

Senior middle blocker Tanja Nikolic was back at volleyball practice and moving well after suffering a mild sprain to her right ankle last Thursday.

Despite Nikolic's return, another UH player was sidelined after yesterday's morning practice. Sophomore Nohea Tano pulled an abdominal muscle during a drill.

"I went up for a hit and felt the pull," Tano said. "I'll be fine. It's just a little strain."

Tano was released last week from Washington State and had been training with the team when she felt tightness in her abdomen. She is scheduled to return to practice tomorrow after meeting with team doctors.

Tano and Nikolic were not the only Wahine to be injured. Walk-on Michelle Isa tore her anterior cruciate ligament on the Wahine's first day of practice. She won't return this season.

Also, the AVCA released its preseason poll yesterday. Despite losing All-American Lily Kahumoku, Hawaii is still in the top five, coming in at No. 5.

Nebraska, last season's national champion, received 63 of 65 first place votes. 2000 final four participants USC and Wisconsin took the No. 2 and No. 4 spots, with Penn State at No. 3.
