Hot dog vendor

Tax preparer relishes break from
IRS paperwork with change-of-pace
job behind a wiener cart

DANIEL KEKUEWA >> "I'm actually a tax preparer, but not many people file taxes this time of year, so I'm doing this a couple of days a week to help out a friend. Daniel's Tax Service, that's me. Oh, and I like the food!

A hot-dog cart is a terrific self-employment possibility. There's certainly nothing complicated about the inventory. It all boils down to location. We have one cart here at CompUSA and one at Wave Waikiki, and the inventories are different. Here, people go for pretzels and chili dogs and chips and Pepsi. There, it's plain hot dogs and Coca-Cola. Wave people hate Pepsi. Interesting, yeah?

At the Wave, some of them are intoxicated, that might make a difference. Here, folks walk out with $1,300 worth of computer, what's two bucks for a hot dog? So they get chips too.

I like everything about this job except the sun. I'm a lot browner than I used to be."
