Saturday, August 11, 2001 The Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.

Schuler Homes Inc., eking out a gain of 2.94 percent, edged out two other Hawaii-based companies this week for the top spot in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index. Its stock has risen 63.6 percent this year. Schuler Homes wins
close race for top spotCentral Pacific Bank parent CPB Inc., up 2.29 percent, and ML Macadamia Orchards LP, ahead 2.19 percent, were right on its tail.
The worst performers of the week were Big Island biotech companies Aquasearch Inc. and Cyanotech Corp., which fell 11.11 percent and 7.69 percent, respectively.
