Visitors from Japan commemorate the Hiroshima bombing

Nani Aikawa, behind cranes at left, and Satoko Nishijima,
right, both YMCA campers visiting from Japan, placed
colored paper cranes yesterday at the Peace Bell at the
Izumo Taisha Mission in Honolulu. The ceremony, which
also included singing and speakers from Japan, was held
to commemorate the dropping of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima.

Nikki Villanueva, part of the McDonald's crew from
Lihue, Kauai, dumped a basket of golden McNuggets
from the deep fryer on Saturday. She was competing
at the McDonald's of Waipahu for the chance to serve
at the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City.
