Saturday, August 4, 2001 The Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.

Central Bank parent CPB Inc., which last week reported record earnings for the eighth straight quarter, rose every day this week to finish with a 13.71 percent gain in leading the way in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index. Its stock is now up 22 percent in 2001. Central Pacific Bank
parent picking up steamCheap Tickets Inc., which Thursday announced a 76 percent decline in earnings and said it was closing all but one of its 10 retail stores, was next with a 6.70 percent advance.
Alexander & Baldwin Inc. brought up the rear with a loss of 2.57 percent.
