The Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.

Central Pacific Bank
parent picking up steam

Central Bank parent CPB Inc., which last week reported record earnings for the eighth straight quarter, rose every day this week to finish with a 13.71 percent gain in leading the way in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index. Its stock is now up 22 percent in 2001.

Cheap Tickets Inc., which Thursday announced a 76 percent decline in earnings and said it was closing all but one of its 10 retail stores, was next with a 6.70 percent advance.

Alexander & Baldwin Inc. brought up the rear with a loss of 2.57 percent.
