during Saturday's Relay for Life at Magic Island at
Ala Moana Beach Park. The annual fund-raiser for the
American Cancer Society honors cancer survivors and
those who have lost their battle against the disease.
Teams took turns running or walking around Magic

The group Kupa'aina, made up of members Lau Aloua, left,
and Kalama Cabigon, performed yesterday during Ho'olauna
Hou, a concert and Hawaiian festival at McCoy Pavilion in
Ala Moana Park. The event raised money for Halau Mele, a
group comprised of dancers and chanters led by kumu hula
John Keola Lake, to help pay for a trip next spring to Rapa Nui.

At left, Prevent Child Abuse Hawaii urged the community
to "make the most of its spare time" at its 15th annual
Bowl-A-Thon Saturday at Aiea Bowl. The theme of this
year's event was "Grease," and Jennifer Kerkela, consumer
sales specialist at Bank of Hawaii, dressed accordingly.
Kerkela was one of 60 bank employees who took part in the event.
