The Iolani Swim Team won the 53rd annual Keo Nakama Invitational, holding off host Hawaii Swim Club at Palolo Recreation Center pool yesterday. Iolani swimmers
win NakamaIolani finished with 452 points in the three-day event. HSC was second with 450.5.
The Aloha Aquatics Association, Mission San Jose Aquatics and Manoa Aquatics rounded out the top five.
The meet drew 29 clubs and over 500 participants from Hawaii, the U.S. mainland, Guam and Fiji.
Bragado, Wood 13th in FIVB beach doubles
Danalee Bragado of Honolulu and partner Ali Wood of California finished 13th at the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour event at Gran Canaria, Canary Islands.Bragado and Wood, seeded 17th, were eliminated by Angela Clarke and Kerri Pottharst of Australia.
At the men's event in Stavanger, Norway, Stein Metzger and Kevin Wong of Hawaii finished 13th on Saturday.
Flanagan again wins North Shore Challenge
Honolulu's John Flanagan successfully defended his North Shore Challenge swimming title yesterday, finishing the 2.4-mile race from Ehukai Beach to Waimea Bay in 42 minutes and 29 seconds.The 25-year-old Flanagan, who recently won the U.S. Open Water Championship, was nearly five minutes ahead of his nearest competitor.
Even Duffin Barnes, 16, was second in 47:16, and Brett Phillips third in 48:04.

Benny Agbayani, Mets: The St. Louis and Hawaii Pacific alumnus missed yesterday's 4-1 loss to the Yankees as he was in Hawaii with his wife, Niela, for the birth of their first child. Labor was induced Saturday, with daughter Aleia (7 pounds, 8 ounces)born at 5:12 p.m. Agbayani is expected to rejoin the team Thursday, as it opens the second half with a series against the Red Sox.Mike Fetters, Dodgers: The Iolani School graduate gave up three earned runs on five hits in one inning, a slight improvement over his last outing Friday, in which he gave up six runs without retiring a batter. Los Angeles lost to Seattle 9-2 and enter the All-Star break 312 games behind Arizona.
