with kidnapping, assault

The man is accused of stabbing
and burning his former wife

Honolulu police last night charged Clinton Vincent, 38, with kidnapping, assault in the second degree and attempted first-degree assault.

Vincent allegedly stabbed his ex-wife, burned her with a soldering iron and barricaded her in a bedroom of her Kuhio Park Terrace apartment Wednesday morning. His bail was set at $500,000.

Vincent's ex-wife, 40, was taken to Queen's Medical Center in critical condition with a stab wound in her chest and burns to her face.

Her condition has since improved to guarded.

Vincent was prohibited from making contact with his ex-wife under terms of a protective order issued last October.

He was serving a six-month prison term for abusing her at the time. He has three other convictions for abuse of his ex-wife.
