The boats that will be used in the 2001 AT&T Hawaii Dragon Boat
Festival were blessed yesterday in a Buddhist ceremony at the Hilton
Hawaiian Village Pier. Traditionally, the ceremony is said to awaken
the spirit of the dragon, which remains asleep until the time of
the festival.This year's festival will be held in waters off
Ala Moana Beach Park July 28-29.
