Richard D. Ackerman, 85, of Honolulu, who retired from the U.S. Navy, died June 2 in Honolulu. He was also a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service and small business owner. He was born in Patterson, N.J. He is survived by wife Wanda; stepsons James and Mike Anderson; stepdaughter Kathy Wood; sisters Alice Shoebal and Helen Ackerman; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
