HASA crowns
new champs

Maui's Sean Louden took top honors in the men's open division, one of 26 titles awarded as the Hawaii Amateur Surf Association's State Championships concluded its four-day competition off Magic Island yesterday.

Kepa Kruse was the only double winner, taking both the men's bodyboard and launch bodyboard. Also continuing his winning ways was former state high school champion Dustin Cuizon, who won the junior men's shortboard.

The top finishers advance to the nationals, July 9-15, in Oceanside, Calif.
