[ MAUKA-MAKAI ]
THIS YEAR MARKS the 15th year of the Honolulu Polo Club at Waimanalo. Chairman emeritus is Bob MacGregor, who is 87 and whose polo days date back to when the horses raced up and down a field in Kapiolani Park. Later, MacGregor and "Mr. Polo" in Hawaii, the late Fred Dailey, moved the "Sport of Kings" to Mokuleia, which hosted such luminaries as Prince Charles of England, Tyrone the Marquis of Waterford, Ireland, and the Sultan of Brunei, to name but a few. A sport of kings

Star-BulletinMany fans of polo believe in living the good life while enjoying the game, often with the help of champagne and home made hors d'oeuvres. And while both the ladies and gents in the crowd are groomed to the teeth, no one outdoes the grooming that equine-loving volunteers and owners alike give the true stars of the game, the horses.
Artists and photographers are invited to submit portfolios of their work. Send photocopied samples to Portfolio, Honolulu Star-Bulletin, 7 Waterfront Plaza, Suite 210, Honolulu 96813; or email jpeg images to features@starbulletin.com
