Also, he had not been served with the restraining order requested by Theresa Anne Kong Kee in a complaint filed April 17. The headline implied that he had been served.>> A column on the Commentary page Sunday omitted the name of Robert Waipa Purdy as a co-author of the "Gathering Place" column about the effort to save the Pau Hana Inn on Molokai. Man accused of choking friend till she passed out
Wahiawa police have arrested a 21-year-old man for allegedly punching his ex-girlfriend, choking her until she passed out, then threatening her with a sharp object when she revived.The alleged incident occurred May 16 as the former couple was on a drive on Mililani Memorial Park Road, police said.
Police located the man in Mililani and arrested him Wednesday night on charges of abuse of a household member and terroristic threatening.
Kaaawa woman hurt as car flips into Waihee Stream
A 70-year-old Kaaawa woman was taken to Castle Medical Center yesterday in critical condition after the vehicle she was driving broke through a wooden guard rail and landed upside down in Waihee Stream.Police said the woman was trapped in the vehicle for about five minutes until bystanders flipped it back over and pulled her out. The woman was driving south on Kamehameha Highway about 9:45 a.m. when her vehicle went into the stream.
Police said speed or alcohol do not appear to be factors in the accident.
Visitor detains burglar in Waikiki hotel hallway
A visitor from Japan found a burglar in his Sheraton-Waikiki Hotel room at about 10:50 Wednesday night and held him until security arrived, police said.The 33-year-old man detained the 15-year-old boy in the hallway after the boy tried to flee with a video camera. Police arrested the suspect.
Makakilo man charged in home-invasion robbery
Police yesterday charged David Cassidy, 27, of Makakilo with burglary, robbery, kidnapping, theft and firearm violations in connection with a home invasion Tuesday. His bail is $100,000.Police say Cassidy, another man, and a 17-year-old Kapolei boy forced their way into a Makakilo home, forced the woman resident to open a safe, tied her up and fled in the woman's van. Police arrested Cassidy and the two other suspects at an abandoned townhouse on Hakimo Road.
Road-rage suspect turns himself in to police
A man turned himself in to police Wednesday night in the case of a confrontation with two other men that started on the H-2 freeway.The two men told police they were Wahiawa-bound on the H-2 freeway Monday afternoon when they passed a slower-moving vehicle. When they left the freeway and were at a stoplight, the driver of the other vehicle got out of his car and approached them, police said.
They told police the man was upset because he felt they almost hit his vehicle when they passed him on the freeway. They said the man tried to kick one of them through the driver's window and struck the driver as he got out of the car.
The two drivers then fought in the street, according to a police report. The other man said he was assaulted as he tried to break up the fight.
